I am writing to ask you to do a full Environmental Impact Statement to study and document the many impacts (both direct and indirect) that abandonment of the Harsimus line will have on the surrounding community. Given that disposition of this property has been a 10 year controversy involving thousands of citizens and given the many serious impacts that demolition of this structure - which is what the developer Conrail seeks to transfer the property to has stated he will do - you must do a serious study to ensure that the public is protected. I urge the STB to be diligent in protecting the citizens of Jersey City.
