Preserving and reclaiming green-space is critical to the survival of humankind and the natural world. Considerations of environmental quality have too long been shelved in favor of development, which invariably becomes yet a larger problem to contend with in the future. A problem that compromises the health of all the planets inhabitants while extinguishing vital links in the ecosystem that sustains us. Imagining a future where the environment is considered before that of commerce will invariably lead us into a green economy" which will bind our communities in ways that technology, traditional development and commerce will never be able to accomplish. The Harismus Stem Embankment is a project that can serve as an excellent example of the "greening" of the urbanized landscape and in doing so enhance a sustainable development model vital to raising the quality of life all along the eastern seaboard."
