My name is Sophie Colle and I live downtown in Jersey City very to the Embankment. I have two young daughterss who have been waiting for this Embankment to become a park since they were very small. It is clear that your agency has not done a full Environmental Impact Statement so you do not understand all of the problems that allowing the Embankment to be torn down will cause. The Embankment is very big and made of very heavy stone. To take this apart will break apart the streets, and to take it down will also break apart the houses that are near the Embankment, which are also very old. Some houses actually touch the wall of the Embankment. I am from France where we have many historic sites and we honor these. The Embankment is an historic site with two landmarks for state and city and yet this is not honored. If you have not done a full Environmental Impact Study you do not know all of the problems that will be caused. The natural habitat above the Embankment will be destroyed. The dust and pollution and noise from the destruction of the Embankment will effect everyone – families with young children, older people - there is an senior residence right across from the Embankment on 6th & Brunswick and another on 5th Street and Erie street. And another on 8th Street and Monmouth. All of these people will suffer from the pollutants and disruption that will occur if the Embankment is destroyed. You need to study these and require the people who want to take down the Embankment to be responsible to protect our community. Thank you.
