AB 167 (Sub-No. 1189X) · CONSOLIDATED RAIL CORPORATION--ABANDONMENT EXEMPTION--IN HUDSON COUNTY, N.J.

I own the house at 274 Fifth Street, Jersey City. The Embankment" is adjacent to my backyard. I am also an attorney. Pursuant to NEPA, an Environmental Impact Statement is required before the Embankment is abandoned or demolished. The demolishment of the Embankment will have a negative impact on my property and will cause my property, which I paid a lot of money for, to depreciate. Pollutants will be released into the atmosphere and additional flooding will occur. Conrail should clean up any hazardous material on the Embankment as well. Harsimus Cove is a designated historic district and the Embankment is part of that history. There is not enough parkland or open space in the area and this would be better used as open space or for public transportation like a light rail link to alleviate the traffic and congestion. President Obama was elected on a change platform. Lets see some change! Why don't you give the middle class a break instead of catering to wealthy developers and large corporations. Since that the housing market has tanked, no one will buy the overpriced housing that the developers want to build. (Donald Trump can't give away his overpriced condominiums which are in walking distance.)"
