Comment EI-16785

Received or sent (printed as 4/4/2009)

Representing the Board and the 900 members of The Friends of Liberty State Park in Jersey City,I urge you to please authorize a Full Environmental Impact Statement of the Harsimus Branch/Pennsylvania Railroad Sixth Street Embankment before abandonment causes irreparable adverse effects to this priceless public resource, Jersey City historic districts, landmarks, neighborhoods, and families. The environmental effects of abandonment and demolition would have a devastating cultural, historic and open space impact on the Embankment's priceless value and of the surrounding resources. The Embankment is a sister urban natural, historical and cultural public resource to Liberty State Park,Jersey City's public resource behind Lady Liberty, and our nonprofit, all volunteer organization urges you to have a full EIS for the whole right of way to help lead to a wise decision for this important corridor. Sincerely, Sam Pesin president of The Friends of Liberty State Park
