The possible demolition of the Harsimus Branch Embankment is of great concern to me. This structure is composed of enormous stone blocks, likely close to or more than 1000 of them. The type of heavy equipment and the vibrations caused by same could cause irreparable damage to the masonary construction historic structures and their foundations located as close as 30' away. Furthermore, the blocks comprise only the exterior of the structure, the interior is made of of many tons of unknown material from an age in our country's history when most hazmats were completely unknown. The dust and the hundreds of dumptrucks could cause exptensive health problems in this small 99.9% residential neighborhood, not to mention the students at at least 3 local schools that can see the structure from their windows in close proximity. I feel an EIS is a no brainer here.....or do we just want to ASSUME all will be ok and easy ? Seems like this is a shovel ready project to me! Thank you for your time.
