I'm a member of the advisory board of the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy and Director of Real Estate & Marketing for the Jersey City Economic Development Corporation. I do not think the NHPA Section 106 condition you recommend in your Environmental Assessment will protect the Embankment from demolition by Steve Hyman. The need for an Environmental Impact Statement is clear. If this wonderful stone structure is demolished, it is sure to have drastic environmental effects on the surrounding historic neighborhoods. Its loss will remove habitat of threatened and endangered species that has not yet been studied . An EIS will provide decisionmakers with comprehensive information about the site.
