Please authorize a full Environmental Impact Statement. It is wrong to allow Conrail to abandon the right of way when demolition and development plans will have severe adverse effects on our environment. I want a full and impartial study of direct and indirect effects of abandonment on our neighborhoods and families. Leaving this priceless landmark in the hands of a disinterest profit-driven developer is immoral. I can assure you that just as these magnificent structures stood guard and witness to the Historic District of Downtown Jersey City's Hamilton Park, abandonment, demolition/destruction and development will result in a permanent loss of community history and unique sense of place. Do the right thing, which 9 times out of 10, is the hard thing to do. Hear the people and review all sides, including a full EIS.
