Columbia & Cowlitz Railway LLC Abandonment in Cowlitz County, Washington. Abandonment with capability of public use would allow pedestrians and bicycle riders the ability and freedom to use the trail line for health and for accessing various locations and services. It could also bring tourism revenue with the capability of allowing bicycle tourists to travel through Longview and Kelso instead of around it. Adventure Cycling maps currently have cyclists going over Delameter Road and connecting Ocean Beach Highway at Coal Creek Road. There are several gaps within Cowlitz County for off-street travel and this would connect several areas together safely. In addition, I am in support for railbanking instead of just abandonment - this will preserve the integrity of the historic nature of the railway. The entire length, including structures such as bridges and trestles, needs to remain intact. Railbanking the line, then coverting it to a trail is needed. Having traveled throughout the U. S., those trail lines that were kept intact with railbanking and with the infrastructure included are the most used and respected throughout those who access and use the lines. Thank you for allowing this comment period.
