Surface Transportation Board 395 E Street SW Washington, DC 20423 Subject: Opposition to Burnet-Lampasas Rail Expansion (STB Docket No. 36815) Dear Members of the Surface Transportation Board, As a REALTOR® and resident of the Texas Hill Country, I am writing to express my concerns about the proposed Burnet-Lampasas rail line. While I understand the importance of transportation improvements, this project poses significant environmental and community risks that cannot be overlooked. The Texas Hill Country is an area of extraordinary natural beauty and biodiversity. The proposed rail line would disrupt vital ecosystems, harm water quality in Mesquite and Sulphur Creeks, and threaten the Lampasas River watershed. These waterways are crucial to the health of our environment and community. Additionally, the project would fragment rural land, impacting property values and livelihoods. It also raises concerns about preserving our historic and cultural heritage, including Native American sites and landmarks like Thornal Cemetery. I respectfully urge the STB to prioritize a full Environmental Impact Statement to assess these risks thoroughly. I also request greater community engagement, including public hearings in affected counties, to ensure all voices are heard. The Texas Hill Country is a treasure worth protecting for future generations, and I hope the Board will consider these serious concerns before moving forward. Sincerely, Diana Lynn
