As a ranch owner for most of my life, I know the negative affects of dividing a ranch by having an entity access through a ranch. 1) the noise factor affects livestock and the owners who have improvements/homes near the railroad. 2) access to an owner's entire ranch is affected 3) There is a liability of livestock being injured/killed trying to cross the railroad tracts to graze the other side of the land. 4) Access to the other side of their land is a great inconvenience to have access to their entire ranch. 5) As a land broker, I know how this will negatively affect the value of the land if an railroad cuts through it. I can see this would benefit profits for those quarries wanting this railroad, but to the detriment of the ranch owners.
