Dear Mr. Assenza, I respectfully request that you block the approval of the new rail line requested by Texas Materials, a foreign company. Our property line is less than a mile from the proposed track. There is no public purpose to be served by approving this line, which will cause dust and rock materials to be distributed all across properties within many miles of the rail line, especially because we experience high winds for much of the year. In addition, the potential for derailments and damage would adversely affect many property owners who specifically have purchased land outside of congested city areas in order to have quiet enjoyment. We also have a very sensitive environmental area which is home to the golden cheeked warbler. Our area is also a crossing point of many tributaries for the San Gabriel River. Burnet residents will have all risk and no benefit if this project is approved. Locals who might have been hired to truck the materials along established roadways will have less opportunities as the trucks will be replaced by unmanned rail cars. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Lucina Botond
