I object to a for-profit, foreign-owned corporation’s attempt by force of law to take land that has been owned by my family for 185 years. Both north extensions of the proposed, private railroad are planned to run through the Crawford Ranch, est. 1840. It will sever and destroy a high-fenced whitetail deer management area. It will closely run alongside eight ranch residences, the oldest being 100 years, as well as a popular venue solely hosting free community events for over fifty years. It will slice through 200+ acres of fields resulting in much of the land being inaccessible for working and fire protection. It will cross over and devastate fragile Cooksey Creek and the unique spring-fed Sulfur Creek. Having no consideration for the common good of the public, this private, proposed railway’s sole purpose is to transport crushed stone from the for-profit, foreign-owned corporation’s quarry. There is an existing railway already being utilized for that purpose. This is purely profit-driven at the expense of the affected land owners and the broader, surrounding area.
