To Adam Assenza: I’m in opposition to awarding a permit to TX Materials Inc. plan for the construction of a railway & any other train operations through Burnet/Lampasas counties because: the route identified is a decades old route on and/or near homes built since dis-service. The lands are in a raw natural condition. Tearing up trees, bushes, & other vegetation threatens many animals & migratory bird species; quail & the Golden Cheek Warbler(a Federally Endangered listed bird) are a few. Property owners trying to be good stewards of the Earth, have established migratory bird sanctuaries along this route. These sanctuaries, will be negatively affected by fumes, noise, & debris pollutions. People have built homes & livelihoods all over this line. All of this will be affected by a mile long train pulled by 4 Diesel polluting engines! What then of noise, trash & diesel pollution? What of “vagrants” bringing mischief, drugs, slave trafficking, made easier with a clear off the beaten trail? High winds & dry conditions + train sparks=fires is a HUGE danger! Can fire trucks get into these insulated, remote acreages? Once established, there is nothing to stop TX. Materials. Inc from adding more than the 1.64 daily trains running! Even more pollutions and dangers! People’s lives/livelihoods, home values, & natural environment be gone! These communities are just now learning about this proposal, giving an appearance that TX Materials Inc & their parent, Irish based company, CRH, are trying to sneak this past the Burnet/Lampasas communities. I have no objection to a business well managed; profitably, ethically & morally. It enhances life for all, including our natural world animals & fauna. Deny the permit. Telling TX Materials Inc: go back to the communities & work something out that is Truthfully good & beneficial for all. Please send a response to these points. Thank you, Margaret Shaw
