As a resident and landowner, I have significant concerns about the impact of this project on my property, my family, and the surrounding community. Our ranch has been in operation since the 1800s, one of the last generational operating ranches in Lampasas County. It contains our family’s burial grounds, a historical school site, along with other irreplaceable and irreplaceable historical sites. I am deeply concerned about the safety risks, as trains passing by at high speeds could pose a danger to both our property, livestock, children and our well-being and peace. The risks of accidents, derailments, and the daily train operations, would put my family, our livestock, and the surrounding environment in jeopardy. Our children play and explore on our ranch, and that would no longer be an option for them. The train would pass so close to our home, we would be forced to move but not able to sell, and our land and home value would be destroyed. What we’ve worked for our whole lives for would be taken from us in the name of profit and convenience. We operate paid hunts, deer management programs, cattle breeding as well as other livestock, agriculture, and event venue, all of which would be severely impacted if not completely shut down. The environmental impact, such as the disruption of natural habitats, wildlife migration paths, cattle grazing, hay production and the potential contamination of resources could have long-lasting consequences that go beyond just our family. We take great pride in preserving the land for our future generations. As the affected parties, it is vital that we are involved in the decision-making process. Please take into account the full scope of the impact this railway could have on our lives and the lives of other landowners, families, and businesses in the area. In light of these serious concerns, I respectfully request that the railway plan be reconsidered. This ranch is our sole livelihood and our family’s legacy.
