The proposed railway on the preferred route as outlined by the STB would completely transect and divide Wagon Springs Ranch. Our ranches name is from a historical site present on our property from a confirmed wagon stop and trail through Texas. The original stone wagon stop is still present and currently being excavated. We have started working with the Texas historical commission which works with the NHPA to get this recorded. This wagon stop has been the inspiration for our ranch, and is now located within our high fence Buffalo (Bison) ranch, and completely protected from the outside world to preserve our history and legacy. Of note, my husband is also a member of the Cherokee Nation, and has devoted his work here on the ranch to raising a large buffalo herd. This includes years of clearing pastures of invasive cedar, planting native grasses and hay to support the repopulation of the endangered bison herd. We have had ties and visits from our Cherokee nation in hopes to one day donate and help with the Cherokee Nations herd. The proposed rail line will absolutely decimate our herds population and our ability to graze throughout the property. Were asking you to consider all of this, and even travel to our Ranch to see its beauty, before you decide to allow something like this to take place.
