I, along with many residents of Eagle Pass/Maverick County, are against the location of the proposed project. This project has a huge impact on Seco Mines, Hopedale, and homes in back of McDonalds. We don't know the impact on Farm Road 1589. How will commercial traffic will be addresses at this point? The city of Eagle Pass relies on the income of traffic between the US and Mexico on the existing bridges. How will this income be replaced as the proposed bridges are privately owned? The commercial traffic in the proposed area will have an impact on Elm Creek and Seco Creek should there be spills. Lastly, do we really know who is funding this project? Is there foreign investment, like China, behind this? Is China securing a port of entry into the US through Mexico? Funding should be transparent. I am not opposed to progress if it solves current issues caused by the commercial traffic inside our town, however, I do not think that the proposed project is the answer. 1 - we should be assured that the investment is coming from our government, not foreign groups trying to access our borders. It should continue to generate income for our town. 2 - we should have the project location is completely out of populated areas and provides for growth. We made a mistake with International Bridge Camino Real, let's not repeat it. We should move it north close to the airport. 3 - the new bridge should provide more jobs, not reduce them as the existing railroad has already informed their employees 4 - there should be an approval process of the location through voting and not by just city council. This project impacts the city and county and it is being shoved down our throats whether we like it or not. 5 - There was a study performed by the city in 2018 of a proposed location much further north. Why was this not considered as an alternative? In closing, questions need to be answered before this project is approved at the present proposed location.
