As a member of this community, I strongly believe this project would do far more harm than good. Introducing a rail line that transports hazardous materials through residential neighborhoods is a decision that ignores the safety and well-being of the people who actually live here. One accident, whether it’s a spill, a derailment, or an equipment failure, could contaminate the Rio Bravo River, our primary water source. The environmental and health consequences of something like that would be devastating and could impact future generations. Along with the environmental dangers, the daily noise, vibrations, and air pollution caused by constant rail traffic would disrupt the quality of life for nearby families. This would affect everything from property values to people’s physical and mental health. Constant exposure to pollutants and the stress of living next to a hazardous transport line isn’t something any community should be forced to accept. This project isn’t progress, it’s a long-term risk disguised as development. The people of Eagle Pass deserve better than to have their health, environment, and peace of mind traded for industrial convenience.
