With the closing of the Brookhaven transfer dump, we fear that not only will the Huntington & Smithtown ash be loaded and shipped from the proposed rail yard, but we will also host the trucks of waste from Brookhaven and points East and South. Also, were told that the trains will be returning fully loaded with goods to be distributed by more trucks, increasing the already heavily traveled truck routes, known as Pulaski Rd., Townline Rd. which becomes Commack Rd. and leads to the Long Island Expressway. We also fear that the carbon exhaust from the trains and trucks will further damage an already compromised Aquifer, that exists beneath the proposed site and travels through our neighborhoods. With the added exhaust, fumes and noise that diesel motors generate, It will undoubtably effect our air quality, increase noise pollution and add to the existing traffic in every direction.
