I am opposed to the Townline Rail project because it will adversely affect the quality of life and character of our community. It also carries with it serious environmental risks. This development will change the zoning of this area from light industrial to heavy industrial activity without our knowledge or consent. It will be bringing in toxic ash construction and demolition debris. If this goes through, the residential communities of Commack, E. Northport, Fort Salonga and more to constant truck traffic, diesel engines idling all day, air pollution from fumes, light pollution, ie. all the effects of garbage disposal and industrial activity. This project would also threaten the actual health of the people and surrounding natural environment. as a common carrier, Townline Rail would obliged to accept hazardous materials for transport. Along with the threat of incinerator ash getting into the environment through the air and likely, spillage, there is the real prospect of derailments. In the first two months of 2023, a dozen incidents were reported by the Federal Rail Administration. The incinerator and planned tail yards are located over a Suffolk County designated Article 7,DDeep Recharge Aquifer Protection Zone. This Rail plan changes a commuter line to an ongoing environmental threat to communities along its' tracks. Please do not approve this project. Sincerely, Erik Lea
