I am writing to protest the proposed rail yard on Townline Rd. The irony that just one year ago a train containing toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, OH does not escape me. I fear if this project is given the green light we are in for a potential environmental disaster the rivals E. Palestine's. This project cannot be approved. It will add significantly more trucks traveling on our roads, polluting our air. Hazardous, cancer-causing chemicals being processed so close to homes, schools, senior centers, and our fragile aquifers is beyond careless and a threat to residents' health. I have lived in Fort Salonga all my life. I am a mere one mile from the proposed site. My parents purchased our home - one of the original historic houses - in 1953. We have seen many changes to the area in those 71 years that changed the landscape of this area, some good, some not. I have never felt my health would be threatened by living here but I have real concerns that this project will not only pollute the air but will also contaminate our fragile eco system. I am truly afraid of what will happen in the best-case scenario, let alone when, not if, a disaster happens. I'm sure the residents of E. Palestine were made promises similar to those who are pushing this project. through. One year later, those residents are still dealing with the fallout from that environmental disaster. Rivers and streams are still riddled with dangerous pollutants, residents still can't return to their homes - ONE YEAR LATER - and residents are dealing with health issues from this disaster. Please, think of those of us who live in this area and don't sacrifice our health.
