Your choice of the preferred route through Argyle Canyon is extremely poor. Not only does it total disrupt one of the most valuable and protected areas of the canyons, it infringes on the rights of many private property owners to enjoy the area and the property which they own. The construction of a tunnel in the canyon will disrupt wildlife habitat, ground water supplies and water tables, it will also expose the canyon to extreme fire danger due to the sparks which will definitely be emitted from the trains passing through the canyon. Unless there are some guarantees that these problems will be corrected and better managed that experience has shown from the past, I voice my opposition to not only this route, but the entire project. The costs are not justified by the economic impact to the counties where the majority of this project will be located. In addition, the revenues will not offset the loans necessary to construct the project not to mention the management and maintenance of the tracks etc. after completion. This being the case, the residents of Duchesne and Carbon Counties will mostly be left responsible for the future repayment of these loans regardless of the revenues which will by all estimates fall short of the construction and operating costs. I wish to voice my vehement opposition to this project and the damage it will impose on these beautiful surroundings.
