As a property owner I am opposed to the Wells Draw route as well as the Indian Canyon route. These canyons have suffered enough from the Garder Canyon Fire in 2002 and the Church Camp Fire in 2012. The latter of those fires claimed our family cabin and much of the surrounding cabins in Mill Canyon. As I myself am a wildland firefighter, I know how many fires start from trains. And with all the recent fires started from trains and train derailments, it further jeopardizes the already fragile and recovering ecosystem. I agree the oil needs to be moved out of the basin and I hear the Colorado route is longer; but it is a much safer route to consider. Another concern is the obscene amount of tax dollars that will be utilized for these proposed routes. Our property is located in Upper Mill Canyon accessed by Argyle Canyon. From one of your proposed routes, the railway could possibly go through our property; which would be devastating to say the least. We've had this property in our family since 1982, and have already suffered the loss of our cabin due to a wildland fire. We have rebuilt and cultivated our land and cannot fathom having to deal with another tragedy.
