I own a residence at 19783 Colton Road and have many concerns about proposed railway. The coalition favored route happens to be on the only road we residents have in and out of our neighborhood and directly to our homes. There is literally one road into and out of this neighborhood, and the proposed route is that only road. I understand that the tracks and therefore the route would require approximately a 100 foot easement. This would take about half of my yard/driveway. North facing. 5 acres. If proposed railroad comes through here, there will many safety issues. There are many young families and pets in this area. Many people along proposed route have driveways and homes even closer to it than mine. My driveway is about 250 Ft from my house, many homes drives are closer than this. At what rate of speed will the trains travel? How long are the trains going to be? What if the trains stop in front of our homes and we are unable to leave? What hours will trains be operating? What will the noise and vibration levels be? Will alternate routes be provided if proposed train route takes my entire frontage and the only way out of my neighborhood? I'm concerned about having to cross train tracks whenever I wanton leave my home for any reason. If the proposed route indeed is built, there will have to be many utilities moved/ relocated. Power lines, gas lines, and water lines, and septic drain fields. I'm very concerned about sparks from hot metal wheels on the trains causing sparks and potentially wildfires. The proposed route would run along some very dry and wooded areas. Lots of sagebrush and other vegetation as well. Are the developers of this project going to buy the affected homeowners out? This will adversely affect property values for us. Supposedly an HOA for this neighborhood exists and they haven't been informed about this project.
