I own a residence on 5 acres at 19783 Colton Rd (aka Sowers Canyon). This is my primary residence for the past 6 years. One of the objectives of any route is to "Avoid Urban and Residential Areas: Generally, a route that avoids urban and residential land uses is preferable." The proposed Indian Canyon route runs along Sowers Canyon Rd, which runs about 2-3 miles through the middle of a residential area, and more specifically, through the frontage of my property. This is the only access to the south side of the residential area, and the only access to my home. Safety is an obvious concern. A railway will severely limit accessibility for residences and emergency vehicles. Noise and vibration is also a big concern. Damage to homes caused by vibrations would be an issue, and the quality of life we enjoy will be ruined. This section of the route clearly does not meet the stated objective. A better alternative would be to run a few miles south of the residential area, along County Rd 25 which is already mainly used for oil truck traffic.
