I wanted to express my support of the Uinta Basin Railway. I am a resident of the Heber Valley in Utah and drive frequently to the Park City and Salt Lake City areas as part of my work. I see countless trucks driving back and forth through Heber City and up and down Highway 40 between Heber City and Park City and up and down Parley's Canyon on I-80 between Park City and Salt Lake City. I believe that all of the trucks are a serious safety concern and a huge negative for the quality of life in the Heber Valley. It seems that every time I drive to Park City and Salt Lake City, there are multiple trucks carrying oil driving up a hill at 25 miles an hour and causing traffic to go around them. That is terribly unsafe on a highway with a 65 MPH speed limit. The proposed railway would greatly reduce the number of large semi's driving through town and crawling up hills on highways where there is heavy traffic. It just makes sense to do this from a safety perspective and for the positive economic impact it will have on the Uinta Basin.
