Please do NOT permit the Uinta Basin Railroad to be constructed. We have only a few years to move away from the use of fossil fuels. Investment in this railroad is not only a waste of investment in unneeded fossil fuel infrastructure, it is extremely harmful in that it will encourage further development of the Uinta Basis for the extraction of fossil fuels which will speed and worsen the climate crisis. The record of fossil fuel development in the Uinta’s has been irresponsible leaving the air extremely contaminated with careless release of toxic gases which is adversely affecting the health of the human and animal population in the area. Construction of this railroad will only make the air quality worse. It is a mis-use of CIB funds for this project; these funds are meant for the improvement of communities affected by extraction, not their further degradation to increase extraction. Thank you for your careful work and for considering the public view of this project.
