I highly recommend that this study and project continue as a solution for effective transportation options in and out of the Uinta Basin. Utah waxy crude feeds our local Utah refineries daily. It is estimated that every three minutes a truck is actively moving this product. Thus, resulting in un-necessary wear and tear onto our public roads and quite possibly not funding our network appropriately through gas/fuel taxes. This also contributes to our poor air quality that everyone in our state would like to provide solutions for. Rail is that answer. Truck traffic volume also contributes great risk of accidents along the corridor including several communities. As a common carrier, this railway would provide the option for rail activity in and out of the basin allowing for any commodity to be more competitive within marketplace.
