History is rich with opposition to change. The same is true in our community. In any decision in regards to a railway or other, there is never a black and white solution. There is never a choice that is 100% pro or con. I believe our challenge and opportunities lie in choosing the opportunities in which the positive impacts outweigh or even swallow up any negatives. Individuals who will be most directly effected, need to take the large view and consider the opportunities they personally have to directly be able to make a significant impact upon their posterity and residents who are living here now and in the future. What an opportunity that is!!! Most of us only dream of being able to have that kind of positive influence in a community. We all must look beyond our own selfish interests to the good of our nation and community. Our nation was built upon the public virtue and sacrifices of those kinds of individuals. Where would we be now if they remained riveted on what is best for them?? I truly believe the railway in the Basin will be a huge benefit to our community. I believe any opposition to the railway is typical of small towns resisting changes in the past as the railroad was in its infancy in our nation. I believe as we cultivate an open mind to new solutions and stay involved in the community that there will be yet many more significant and productive changes to our area. Water unmoved becomes stagnant. Incoming streams and rivers bring life and vitality to a body of water. The same is true of a community and nation.
