Comment EI-30149

Received or sent (printed as 8/23/2019)

I am opposed to this project. Making Highway 40 a four-lane road all the way to I-80 makes more sense and would benefit more people without disturbing or dissecting new areas. This project will disturb migration corridors for wildlife and negatively impact plant and animals populations. Habitats will be lost both directly through the physical area taken up by the tracks and indirectly through the disturbance caused by long and loud trains traveling the tracks. It also subsidizes the carbon-based energy industry that pollutes our air and water. We should be investing in new technologies and energy sources that are environmentally friendly and sustainable. In addition, this project may violate the rights of indigenous peoples and disregard their claims on the land.
