I appreciate the opportunity to comment on the proposed rail line. Thank you for your time. My concerns are twofold: first, the impact on the Ashley National Forest. In my opinion, forests should not be torn down to make room for technological advances, when possible. Once we clear forest we can never get it back, and I feel it would be a shame to clear them just for the construction of this rail line. Second, I realize we live in an area of coal, oil, and natural gas extraction and that provides the livelihood for many families. However, in our changing world I believe we need to consider alternative sources of energy. It is my belief that wind and solar power will overtake the more traditional energy resources that are currently used, negating the need for this rail line in the not too distant future.
