PLEASE vote no to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad. The railroad benefits Frank Patton at great expense to all the residents of Illinois. The railroad will disrupt the quality of lives for anyone unfortunate to live near it. It will effect the environment, water supply, lower crop values, and pose severe social and economical risks to residents. As property values plummet, tax money to counties, townships, and villages will be reduced. Any jobs gained by the railroad will will not be local and be short term jobs at best. Lives of countless individuals should not be de-valued to benefit the owners of Great Lakes Basin Railroad! If this company is truly concerned with moving products efficiently, then tracks should be build parallel to interstate 90/39 since land next to the interstate has already been impacted by transportation and the interstate is the most direct route to and around Chicago which supposedly is the purpose of this project. We sincerely hope that our concerns will be considered and this railroad path through our county will be denied. Fire and medical services will be slowed due to trains and possible longer routes.
