Hello Mr. Blodgett. My name is Melody and I live in an area that will be deeply and adversely affected by the GLB rail line. I moved to this town to raise my two young children in this quiet farm community so they could receive excellent educations and enjoy the great outdoors. This plan to build a railway would be just a mile from out home, and would cut off access to major roads, as the township and county would no longer maintain these due to the tracks that could cut through. This really concerns me. This train, which I am really having trouble understanding why it's needed in the first place, would immediately drop the value on my home and all of the homes around me. The schools, which were one of our man reasons for moving here, would no longer get the funding they need and not be able to serve my children or any of the other children in the way I had hoped. This project will not create jobs for my community. We are surrounded by farmland, and those farmers will not be able to sell crop tainted from the runoff from this railway. Temporary jobs would not help these farmers with a sustainable lifestyle. I've also heard that my insurance will go up just because I'm close to these tracks. I genuinely do not understand why this plan should go through our community when we already have infrastructure in the greater Rockford area which meets the demands for rail cargo. Our community does not need this railway. This is not the answer. Please, sir, I implore you to re-evaluate this plan. This plan does not serve the people, it serves none of us. Please, consider our needs, and our children's needs.
