After reviewing the available information about the proposed Great Lakes Basin rail project, it is my opinion that the proposed GLB project has failed to sufficiently provide documentation that supports public convenience and necessity. In fact, property values would plummet, resulting in less tax money for the state, counties, and villages. All people near the proposed sites, not just along the route, would see their investment value decrease. Farmers would lose valuable cropland while seeing the harvest value decrease as well. The environment would be very negatively impacted, both animals, plants and water supply harmed by the trains. Closing smaller crossroads as well as frequent trains across major roads, would result in longer times for valuable services (police, ambulance, etc) to reach their destination. Any job creation in the communities would be short lived, while the long term negative impact would be felt for years - longer commute times to work, etc. I respecfully request that the STB takes no action" on this project.
