I am writing in OPPOSITION of the Great Lakes Basin Railroad proposition. As you are probably aware, this new railroad will negatively impact thousands of families, farmers, and communities throughout Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana. For example, the proposed railroad would run in between my parents' house and my brother's house. Their houses are only 200 yards apart from each other. In addition, their houses are on a dead-end road. Therefore, if a train was on the tracks, then my parents would literally be trapped between the train and the end of their road. My parent are elderly, so any medical emergency vehicles would not be able to reach them. This could mean life and death for them. This is just one family that will be significantly impacted by this railroad. There are countless others who will be impacted in other ways. Please, please do not allow this railroad to happen.
