Ms. Rutson -- I am writing you to urge you to NOT give Mr. Patton and the GLB RR any more extensions past the current May 1 deadline. If his project gets approved it would be devastating to our LaSalle County IL community. A RR would divide family farms into small parcels, disrupt water flow by breaking field tiles, and contaminate our soil and water supply in the event of a derailment or spill of hazardous material. The Earlville Ambulance and Fire Depts. are very concerned with closing of rural roads and being held up by as many as 120 trains per day. The local school has concerns about their buses being delayed or having accidents on the many unmarked crossings. I attended several public meetings last year, and was moved by the many concerns farmers and non-farmers have regarding this RR project. I attended the Morris meeting attended by Mr. Patton. His arrogance and lack of compassion for rural communities was shocking and infuriating! This for profit" enterprise is totally unnecessary. A "No Build" decision by the STB is the only acceptable outcome. I appreciate your consideration in this life-changing matter. Sincerely, Jane and James Baird, 500 S.
