I am opposed to the Great Lakes Basin Railroad being built. This is both a farming & residential community that would be in jeopardy if this project is allowed to continue. My concerns are the possible/probable contamination of our water supply that we drink, bathe & clean with; the air that we breath; the noise; and our safety in the event of tanker spills & explosions from dangerous chemicals. My further concerns are as follows: (1)that our property values will drop (no one wants to live next to a high speed train that runs continually throughout the day/night hauling dangerous freight); (2) our schools' ability to provide bus transportation to our children will be greatly impacted by the road closures needed of our already existing country roads to accommodate this railroad (it will take a much longer time to transport students to & from school with some not receiving transportation at all) (3) farming operations will be suspended and/or reduced due to being forced to give up land through eminent domain & road closures (for some of us, this is our source of income to provide for our families--thus the GLB Railroad is taking away jobs rather than providing them). This is a private gain venture at our expense. In making your decision, please consider the content of my comments as well as others who have contacted you in regard to opposing the Great Lakes Basin Railroad. Thanks for your time & efforts in making this a better world for all of us.
