I would like to express my frustration with the Temporary Suspension of the EIS scoping for GLBT's proposed project. To have my life on hold while GLBT is granted time to complete an application is concerning. A business should have a plan in place before wasting tax payer money on involvement of a Federal Agency and the time of thousands of land and homeowners who could be impacted directly. Home and land values are at stake. Many live in angst trying to deal with the unknown. Wondering will the proposed rail line move? Should I sell now to some unsuspecting person and invest in land somewhere else? Is my child's school going to close? Concerned citizens such as myself live in fear GLBT will be granted a permit then not have goods to move or the fund to even complete a build. If they are relying on contracts to move oil will the economics of energy pull the rug out from under them. The pipelines have started building to transport the oil underground, would rail transport be feasible? What would this proposed project do to existing short line railroads that serve Chicago? There are many, many more questions that keep me awake at night and there is no deadline for GLBT. Please keep the lives of the thousands that live within the 60 mile corridor of consideration by the EIS. We don't deserve to have this speculative business venture hanging over our lives indefinitely. Set a time limit for the application to be filed. Certainly GLBT knew they would have to have a comprehensive business plan before starting the STB permitting process.
