Mr. Kenneth Blodgett, Good Morning. We recently moved into our home, having only lived on Cleophas for almost 2 years We love it. The tranquility and the wild life - this is the reason we moved out of the city. With the proposed GLB Rail line all of that will be taken from us. We will have lost everything we saved for. It took us nearly 20 years to squirrel away enough money to have our dream of country living. We view the GLB railroad to be a threat to our home both in value and physically. Vibrations with every train that passes will cause damage to our foundation, walls, pictures, dishes windows, etc. The noise will destroy the beauty of the frogs croaking, cows mooing, coyotes yipping and the sweet caress of the wind on a summer day–after all who wants to relax in a hammock to the sound of horns and clickity-clack? People move to the country for peace and quiet, just like we did. Our home will lose value–our equity will mean less than it would if the peace and quiet were maintained. Loss of sleep will occur as the noise is not welcomed, like the gentle chirp of crickets singing a chorus with the tiger frogs. We will not be able leave our windows open during the wonderful spring, summer and fall months. This will increase our reliance on A/C to keep our home cool. So not only do we lose value in our home, but it will cost more to run the home. As a community we will be exposed to any potential spills than could damage the ground water, soils, and the beautiful wetlands the Audubon Society (http://www.greenrockaudubon.org/graslands.html) maintains next door to our home. A small but important trout stream is located in the GRASlands and it must remain pure as possible. My husband and I will have to cross the line at least once to get to work which will add time to our individual commutes – which equals more money to pay for gas waiting at the crossings. This rail line offers no value to me or my community. Please put a stop to this railroad. Please do not allow big money to win. Thank you for your time, Rachel Cates 6717w Cleophas Road Beloit, WI. 53511
