Dear Mr. Blodgett, My rural country house is located within less than a mile of the current Proposal route in Winnebago IL. I am very concerned of having a train run thru our county let alone my backyard. 23 years ago purchased 9.1 acres of land to be away from typical city noise and transportation, as my family and I enjoy peace and quiet and the serenity of the outdoors. My woodland is currently enrolled in the IL Department of Natural Resources Forestry division, with a goal of enhancing structure for wildlife, reforestation of quality trees and the preservation of nature in its natural setting. A railroad in this location will destroy all of the improvements and goals that have been in process for the last 23years. In addition a railroad anywhere in our county and especially my backyard will drop my property value significantly. I have also learned of potential railroad crossing and the possibility of a dead end county roads which may be necessary to control safe passage of traffic. This would be a great inconvenience to traffic flow, my time and my neighbor’s time frame to and from work. Please, please consider how this rail system will impact me and my neighbors personally. Put yourself in my shoes, with the extensive monetary investment I have made in the purchase of my property, land and the value of my home which my wife and I have worked our whole life to achieve and then to allow GLBT to take a large portion of our lifelong dream away from us for their own profit and gain!! This train is absolutely not in the best interest of our community, county or even our state. It simply will serve the greedy billionaires at all of the impacted citizens expense. Please do not allow their request to be granted. Thank you for your thoughtful consideration to this matter.
