I am sending this message in regards to the recently released preferred route" by GLB inc. transportation company. I am a practicing veterinarian in a small community outside Rockford, Illinois. A large portion of my clientele come from the west side of the Rockford area. This rail line cuts directly through the heart of my business and would have devastating consequences for my company if it goes through. My understanding is that GLB prefers to close as many roads as they can. Any roads remaining open would be crossed by miles and miles of trains daily making what are now easy trips to the veterinary office extremely difficult at best. I am greatly concerned about this impact and the possibility it could create serious problems for my business, my family, my employees, and ultimately my beloved community! This rail line stands a great chance of sending people the other direction to avoid dangerous rail line crossings and easier drives in general. I know I am not the only business in Winnebago concerned and frightened by this potential corporate land grab and the huge impact it will have on our local economy! I am not asking for this route to be moved somewhere else.....I am asking for this terrible project to be stopped in general!"
