I am writing to tell why I disapprove the Great Lakes Basin Railroad. Probably 95% of the land of the GLBR is going through farm and wetlands. My concern is more for the wetlands and the wildlife that live and migrate to this area. My first concern is for the Endangered Whopping Cranes, which I will try to send pictures of. The first pic is on Moody Rd. a mile long Rd. the train will be crossing, the second pic is on Rockton Rd. about 150 feet from where the proposed route is going. The reason the Whopping Cranes come here is because they where taught to come here by the Operation Migration flight path. They flew the cranes across the area of the Natural Land Institute's property Nygren Preserve which is about 1 mile east of proposed track, all the way to western Pecatonica Il. which is about 10 miles west of proposed track, this area is now there migratory route, winter and spring, and as you can see in the pics, they also bring what few young they have. There are only about 450 Whopping Cranes left in the wild, and the train wants to come right through there migratory route and rest area. They have stayed in this area for over 1 month at a time, and they migrate about 6 months between winter and summer. Plus as you can see in one of the pics, up to 350 Sandhill Cranes also use these prime wetlands, and some of those breed here. As you can guess we have many birds and animals that use these wetlands. So I ask you to consider the American Pelicans, Sandhill and Endangered Whopping cranes, in making your decision, and please do not allow this track to come through this area.
