Proposed GLB Railroad: The taking of private property by eminent domain for private interests was an ill-advised decision by the Supreme Court since that was never the intent. That being said, allowing a private toll railroad to be established at the expense of the public is not only not necessary, it is immoral. The affect on property values, wildlife, natural resources, farmland, homeowners, the thousands inconvenienced by the disruption and noise pollution cannot be justified. Saving time through Chicago for items that are not time sensitive is not justification. That the communities that would be affected would derive no financial benefits, but only inconvenience and financial loss. The blocking of more highways frequently is a safety and time issues for the public. The government exists to serve the people. The people don't exist to serve the government. Therefor, serve the people and disallow the GLB Railroad.
