I spoke at the Boone County Scoping meeting about our Troy Bedrock Aquifer and where the proposal runs through our farm and over the South Branch of the Kishwaukee River and how a spill over this aquifer in the Boone/Ogle area because of the lack of any non-permeable shale strata/deposits that any oil or chemical would leach right through sand and gravel deposits and into the sandstone aquifer that is the main source of charging for the West-NW Chicago Suburbs groundwater supply as well as our own. It is the belief of many that Mr. Patton is eying the oil traffic boom by rail for his proposal, if this is so then pardon the pun but some water is being tossed on the oil by rail market as I am sure you are aware. Just like what happened between Rockefeller and Vanderbilt, the most cost effective and safer solution will win out in the end as history seems to be repeating itself here again. I think it is important for the STB to read an article that was published today that proves that point, below is a link to today’s Wall Street Journal article on the front page of the Business & Tech section: In U.S., Oil Trains Give Way to Pipelines. http://www.wsj.com/articles/crude-slump-pipeline-expansion-mark-end-of-u-s-oil-train-boom-1469484016 Thank you, Eric Anderberg 35754 W.
