Surely it is not necessary to build a 278 mile railroad to by pass Chicago especially when a large portion of it goes in the opposite direction. Existing tracks closer to Chicago and a short bypass should be used instead. The 11 counties in Illinois that are impacted by this railroad project have had their county boards all come out in opposition to this project. This shows the negative environmental and economic impacts of GLBR on those counties.
