Thank you for giving concerned citizens a chance to voice our concerns. I am greatly opposed to the rail road that Mr Patton wants to run through porter county indiana. This will substantial change our tranquil area. We have lived on our 20 acres for 23 years. And has become a very important part of our lives. Two generations of our family have lived here. And to think our way of life will be altered forever is heart breaking. Outside the personal aspect the drainage situation is very worrisome. Heavy rains or winter snow melts cause flooding in our yard. And to have the railroad cause even more drainage issues is a scary thought. It will become a destructive situation. Farmlands and personal properties will be destroyed. And it will be the homeowners or county's responsibility to foot the bill. Another issue I have is the response time for our emergency responders. The railroad will add precious time to response times in emergency sitations. And could mean the difference between life and death in a medical emergency. Another issue I have is that how close the railroad will be to some of our schools. The constant distraction of horn whistles up to 110 times a day is not conducive to education our youth. Most of us who live in this are get their water from a well. If there was ever an accident and a spill of a chemical or petroleum product. It would be devastating. We would not have potable water to use. And to bring in city water would take years and cost millions of dollars. This railroad is not needed. Its not even being backed by the major railroads that supposably it is being built for. I believe this a plan to make Mr Patton and his backers millions or billions of dollars at the expense of hard working citizens. Once again thank you for giving us this platform to voice or concerns.
