We have some concerns regarding the GLB railroad and request that the EIS address them. We live about a 1/4 mile from the proposed railroad. Our neighbors would lose land with a railroad cutting through it. Our son's is within feet of the railroad and would directly impact his quality of life and property value. Some things for you to consider: We live on Turtle Creek which eventually goes to the Mississippi. What happens when an oil spill goes into the Creek? There are deer, turtles, fox and other wildlife around here and how many will be killed by the railroad? How will the vibrations affect our well? There are eagles nesting along the creek. How would the noise and construction pollution affect them? The route goes across the back of our cemetery. We believe the vibrations will affect the old momuments located there and noise interrupting funeral services. The Emerald Grove Church is not far away and has limestone basement. Will the vibrations affect that and the stained glass windows in the church and noise during church services? I hope you will do a very thorough study of all concerns. One concern is whether the railroad is even needed especially up in our area. CREATE is working on improving the rail through Chicago. There are many unused rails that could serve the same purpose. A couple of bridges in our are not being repaired by rails and affects our getting to place already. Thank you for your consideration. Fred & Sandra Clint
