Dear Mr. Navecky, I am contacting you in regards to Docket# FD 35952. I am requesting that the STB make the safety of the people who live along the GLBT's proposed rail a major consideration during the Draft EIS portion of this process. Mr. Patton says he chose this route because it is 'green land'. It is 'green' because it is developed agriculture land. It is not undeveloped land. Agriculture is the backbone of this nation and in order to be successful it takes the people dedicated to agriculture and their families to make it happen. That brings me to my point. These are real people/families who live on these farms, families with young children, families with elderly parents, to say nothing of the fact that farming is a dangerous profession. The safety of all the above is put at a greater risk if this proposed rail becomes a reality. One safety risk is to families with children who could very well be seriously of not fatally injured by the passing of high speed trains on the rail, and there are a great many children to consider. Children/young adolescents have great curiosity and a rail would be seen as a great adventure to many young people. If any person of any age has a medical emergency including , but not limited to a car accident, a farming accident, heart attack, stroke, a young mother going into labor, I could go on, and emergency services cannot get to them because they have to wait for a train to clear the road there is a great risk of serious consequences to said individual(s) if not fatalities. Plus there is the very real risks to the people in these communities if a derailment occurs. How are emergency crews going to get to everyone who is in danger? Human safety needs to be given great status. The safety and wellbeing of the people who live in the communities that this rail is proposed to travel is just as important as any other persons safety and wellbeing. The EIS process should include conferring with medical professionals (medical doctors and psychologists), local and national government agencies. Every individual has the right to feel safe in their homes and on their land. I strongly urge you and the STB to please put a great deal of thought and study into the safety (or not safe)implications of this proposed rail. Thank you for your time, efforts and consideration. Sincerely, Theresa M. Huber
