To whom it may concern There is a reason why there has never been a rail line going through Boone County IL where GLB is proposing it. It's not an ideal location for it. It crosses several large flood plain areas and their is no freight traffic stalled because this line doesn't exist. We have a high water table some people tap with shallow point wells and the aquifer beneath Boone County and both are highly susceptible to contamination from Hazardous Material Spills. This is not the first business that has viewed Boone County as empty farmland and came up with an idea to make profit for themselves at the expense of our rural environment living. People that were raised in Boone County stayed here for this rural environment. Others have moved here to get away from the busy railroad, city life and industrialization that has taken over other counties. The more I look into it the more I see there is no reason to have this go through Boone County where it would pose such a negative impact on our rural environment and not a need for GLB at all. Supposedly to ease congestion at a bottleneck in Chicago? There is no Great Line Backed up of thousands of trains waiting to go through Chicago. There are already 2 rails that run East to West South of Chicago and the GLB line would be parallel to them. If any existing railroad saw the necessity to increase traffic through this region they would already have accomplished it or would be looking at improving the lines they already have in place.
