The Great Lakes Basin Transportation Company’s plan to run tracks through Prime Farmland is unacceptable; the Surface Transportation Board needs to examine the impact that train noise, vibration and pollution will have on crops and livestock. There are many scientific studies which show noise and vibrations affect the health of both plants and animals. Any environmental review must include an analysis of how these factors affect not only humans, but plants and animals as well. Please also explain how in the event of an emergency the numerous livestock farms along this proposed route will be evacuated.
